"We are excited to share with you that the CSTA LatinX Affinity group is growing! This is a community of dedicated and passionate CS educators who believe in the importance of building and sustaining quality CS programs in all our schools, and especially in schools serving Hispanic and Latinx students. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated to pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic and Latinx Americans who have enriched our nation. It is celebrated during September 15 – October 15 and the theme this year is Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation."
"To commemorate this year's theme for Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to share the following information and resources to raise awareness of the importance of inclusivity in CS education for Hispanic and Latinx communities:
- If you are a Hispanic or Latinx CS educator, or if you are a teacher that would like to support Hispanic students in computer science, please complete the Latinx Affinity Group Contact form to receive updates and access to resources.
- Read CSTA Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month which includes information about our group and resources that have been cultivated.
- Follow CSTA LatinX Affinity on Twitter and if you're on social media don't forget to use #CSTALatinx.
- Also, you are invited to join the CSTA LatinX virtual community (you must be a CSTA+ member).
The steering committee has created a few more resources for you:
- Use the 2022 Hispanic Heritage Month Slide Deck (force copy) with your students. It includes Hispanic/Latin-X CS Hero posters.
- Download the following CSTA Latinx virtual backgrounds that you can use in the classroom to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!
Please feel free to share out with everyone!
