Please consider joining us tomorrow, Thursday, February 23, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. CT for our fourth virtual meetup of 2022-23!
Now that we've gotten our bearings back following the holidays (or have we? Lol), please consider joining us for an hour of community building and resource sharing. Our tentative agenda includes:
Welcome & Introductions (5-10 min)
Networking Time (5-10 min)
Resource Sharing (10 min)
Upcoming Events (10 min)
Q & A (5-10 min)
Feel free to register and RSVP so we can get an idea on attendance, but every CSTA Alabama chapter member will receive a calendar invite with a Zoom link as a reminder for the meetup.
CSTA prides itself in promoting equitable access to the CSTA Annual Conference, our premier professional learning program for K-12 CS teachers, by offering scholarships that subsidize 100% of the program cost. CSTA will award as many scholarships as possible to help deserving teachers join this excellent learning opportunity and will give priority consideration to:
First-time conference attendees
Teachers of color
Teachers who teach underrepresented students in CS
Active CSTA members and volunteers
Conference presenters (and those who submitted proposals)
To be eligible for scholarships to the 2023 CSTA Conference, you must:
be a CSTA Basic* or CSTA+ member,
directly teach computer science to K-12 students, and
not have access to funding from your school or organization to cover conference registration fees.
Applications close on April 28, 2023. *not a CSTA member? You can join as a member at csteachers.org/join.
Come test your computer programming skills and compete with other Alabama students for cool prizes! A fun day is planned with educational experiences, food and social activities. The Alabama Robotics Competition is an event where students write programs that navigate their robot across a series of obstacle courses. Awards will be given out in several categories across multiple grade levels (elementary school, middle school, and high school).
The unconference will offer a blend of sessions where the topic is chosen by the participants, as well as “anchor sessions” led by speakers and broken down by grade band.
Anchor sessions led by Lois Byars, Canice Pittman, Nancy Stevens, and more!
